If you check my internet history, Youtube will be listed every day. Their interface isn't considered fancy, they just work and that is why I wanted to replicate its simplicity in this challenge.
For each challenge, I explore the pixels on the screen and its greater role as a product, owned by a business.
YouTube attracts about 44% of all internet users, half of which are daily users. Users are comprised of all ages, from young children to seniors. Used all around the world, via all devices. However, 70% of all watch time comes from mobile devices
Youtube revenue channels are primarily ad revenues and Youtube Premium membership fees.
Visitors first see their personalized recommended videos, perhaps indicating that Youtube prioritizes surfing behavior. This argument is also supported by their business model as keeping visitor’s attention as long as possible is in Youtube’s best interest.
Sometimes users visit youtube for entertainment, but other times users are looking for specific videos. According to Youtube's statistics, users typically look for tutorials or current events. This is, of course, is afforded by their long search bar in the navbar.
