Today, I am starting a daily challenge to reproduce digital interfaces. This is to not only expand my understanding of User Interfaces but also seek to understand the creative decisions behind each pixel.

"Good artists copy, great artists steal" - Pablo Picasso

As I write this, I was looking up good reasons to "steal like an artist" and this talk by Austin Kleon articulated my intentions better than I can. I also ran into this developer recreating Asana's website/ feature to improve his craft 👏. I am sure he learned a bunch from doing so.

Desired Outcomes

My goal for this challenge is to be good at dissecting an interface and learn to make good assumptions on their design decisions. Questions I imagine myself asking as I steal are:

• What can I infer about the company from their information hierarchy in their values page?
• Why is the color "Black" never pure #000000?
• Why are there often gray boxes and lines as placeholder for content while the page is loading? (Hint: Skeleton loading)
• What makes a good icon?
• Why is there the "like" button on Facebook?

What I will do

In this challenge, I will replicate a single screen in three breakpoints (desktop, tablet, phone). For each challenge I will answer:

• Who is using this interface and what are their goals?
  
• What is the primary task this interface affords?
• What are the secondary task(s) this interface affords?
• What did I learn and find?
